Strategic Management Initiative ( Strami ) is an effort to channelize rich experiance of 40 years of stratetgic business management for the benefit of society at large. Strategy is indivisible part of one's persona. Be it a nation, an organization or an individual, one can not move on without a strategic road map to reach destination. Strategy gives and reaffirms a sense of purpose enroute to success.
Micro and Small Enterprises do start with a dream to achieve something. They are generally focussed very well due to limitation of resources.However, in their quest to grow they lose direction somewhere on the way. They try to do things anyway whichway they can get results. They start experimentation to structure building blocks for their tower of success. They stumble and soon discover they wo'nt reach anywhere unless there is clarity, sense of purpose and the best way to reach there. They evaluate different success stories, identify the prospective areas for focus and filter out unnecessary clutter to evolve focus. And when they have "arrived" on the scene, they seem to have a clear perspective leaving behind the initial struggle of finding niche.
Once the niche is found the resource allocation in terms of time, money and energy is very productive. Earlier this happens the better it is for the enterprenuer so that the resolve firms up and the 1-2-3 of march to success begins. I have been witness to this process of growth from micro to small to medium scale of an industry which began in a rented garage to make fibre glass moulded items, moved to small controllers and finally settled down to the enterprenuer's core competence of sophisticated electronics with great success. A case of clear strategic shift from low value addition to very high value added products and services based on technical core capital.
Strategic Management Initiative (SMI) is an effort to provide a platform for enterprenuers and professionals to interact, share experiences, and benefit from strategic inputs from each other through networking. This is a platform for posting one's problems and seeking strategic inputs to encourage and take budding enterprenuership forward.
Strategic Management Initiative would also endeavour to provide through blogs the strategic thought process on issues of national, and global importance on governance.
